Hi All , I'm Alexander Mackintosh II - known by most as "Sandy" son of Alexander Day Mackintosh, born Brooklyn NY 1912 and grandson of Alexander Mackintosh who immigrated to NYC from Scotland in 1893 or 1894. He changed his spelling from "McIntosh" to satisfy a scholarship requirement at New York University. I have 2 sons - Brook's a recent law school graduate and current resident in Richmond and Alexander III's currently a senior at Georgia Tech. Both my father and grandfather have left behind the results of copious genealogical study of our family...going back even to the 11th century and to the very first Mackintosh. I visited Scotland in 1960 and even met our Chief at Moy Hall. The kilt I bought during that visit still fits me and has been used by many in my family for special occasions: proms, school graduations, weddings, etc.
I send my most sincere greetings to all Mackintoshes in "Oz" and would love to correspond with any who wish.
Best regards - "Touch Not The Cat Bot A Glove"
Email Sandy if you would like to correspond

Your website is quite informative. Would you consider allowing us to hyperlink your site on our HomePage?

It is great to find this society. I am the grandson of a Robert Mackintosh who came from PEEBLESHIRE in 1888 with his brother Hewitt. His home was called La Manacha which I visited in 1994. Also met Hewitt's grandson Kenneth James Mackintosh of Windsor UK. Robert settled in Hobart, Hewitt in Sydney (Australia).

Congrats on a very good Clan page and welcome to my "perhaps distant" cousins down under. Can someone help a fellow clansman? I'm a piper in Michigan in the USA and I'm having a devil of a time finding our clan music. I have The Mackintoshes Lament but not The Mackintosh Banner, Gathering, The Black Rock of Clan Chattan Gathering, Mackintosh's Welcome to Grantown-on-Spey. It was very hard to find the Lament too. Does anyone have access or know where I can get this pipe music?
If you can help Norman, please email him

I am looking for info. regarding my gggrandfather Alexander McIntosh born 1827 in Brora, Parish of Clyne, Sutherlandshire, SCO. Do not know when he went to Canada. The 1871 census of Lambton County, Ontario says he was a 44 year old farmer and was married to Margery Douglas, born 30 Sep 1834 St Thomas, Ontario, CAN. They had 10 children- Isabella, James, George, Alexander, Margery, John, Mary, Charlotte, William and Jennie.
Alexander had 2 brothers- George who died at St Thomas and James who died in London. Do not know if that was Ontario or England. Brother George married Sarah Evans and had 6 children- Alexander D., James E., George H., Charles W., William Lloyd., and Sarah M: This was around Middlesex County.
My ggrandfather was James, son of Alexander, born 1856 in Dorchester, sub of London, Ontario. He married Lavina Peacock and had 5 children- William, John, Ettie, Emma, and Henry. He died in 1899.
William was my grandfather- William James born 1888 Enniskillon township, Lambton County, Ontari,. died 1966 in Chester, West Virginia, USA. My father William Camerlin McIntosh born was in 1937.
Looking for any info, especially heritage in Scotland. Thank you
If you can help William, please email him

I am not sure where I fit in the McIntosh clan other than my father Robert Olen MCINTOSH was born in NE and his father William Jefferson MCINTOSH was born in KY
Email Shirley if you can help expand her tree.

Ronald (USA)
Hi all from the other side of the BIG Loch, Oregon USA. I am Ronald, great grandson of Neil Mackintosh or McIntosh born in 1848 and lived at 26 Ferguslie Paisley Scotland. I am married to Falanika, who has a sister in Melbourne (Australia), hope to visit some day. We just started attending Highland Gatherings in 1999 here in the U.S.
We were quite impressed and hope to have a tent at some of the smaller Gatherings in our area, where Mackintosh is not yet represented.

Paul (AUS)

I must confess my surprise at tripping over this. I haven't been active at all in Clan activities - indeed my family has been rather insular in this regard. How nice it was to have seen the Cat crest again though I couldn't say for sure when the Ritchies became members of the Clan Mackintosh and insofar as family history goes, my father migrated to Melbourne from Aberdeen when he was 18 and the rest of his family came with him. My grandfather Andrew Ritchie was a fisherman in Aberdeen after the war - he served in North Africa in the R.A.F. Apart from that I wouldn't have the first clue about genealogy beyond him.
My grandmother came from the Gibb family the last of whom died in the 1980s and my aunty Jeanette lives in Bunbury (WA) at the moment so living in Melbourne I don't get to see her very often.
I would be interested in becoming a member so please do send me an application form.

Welcome to the Clan Society Paul!

Debbie (USA)
Hello, This is a wonderful site!!! It was brought to my attention by my cousin, Linda. My grandfather was Lachlan McLean McIntosh, who was 5 years old when his parents and siblings boarded the SS Numidian in 1911, and arrived in the Boston Port of Entry October 10, 1911. I was able to locate their manifest. My mother, June lives in NH (USA).
I am a McIntosh even though my name doesn't show it, and I carry my heritage with Pride and Love. I cannot download at the moment because of my webtv, I will be getting a computer soon, and would love to become a member.

Greetings Debbie! This Clan Society is based in Australia,
and while we would love to have overseas members,
it might be best if you contact the
Clan Mackintosh of North America.
See their contact details on our Clan Chattan contacts page

I am a Mackintosh from Canada, my ancestory from Edinborough, Scotland (grandfather).
The other night I saw a special about a boxer Jack Johnson, from the U.S. who met a promoter named McIntosh from Australia. On seeing his picture who looked a lot like my family line, I had to venture further.
Mind you, Hugh McIntosh, known as "Huge Deal" is an interesting fellow as I have learned tonight surfing the net.
Through my search, I am thrilled to find your site,
and nice to know my extended family thrives half-way around the world.
Regards, and touch not the cat with bot a glove

Brent (NZ)
Good site and to be able to see that the clan can be accesable even if you're spread all over
